You might have noticed that so far, I have only reviewed albums that I thought were good and that I would quickly recommend to any hip hop fan, Elzhi’s The Preface is no different.
After listening to this album a couple times I have pretty much decided to put it just below J-Live’s Then What Happened on my list. Elzhi has tremendous creativity which he incorporates with good flow, nice beats, and witty wordplay.
Literally, I would even go as far as to say that every song on this album is hot. The guest artists are great and the theme is apparent. Plus, most of the album was produced by Black Milk who is great. This is one of my favorite albums of 2008 so far.
If you are a hip hop fan you owe it to yourself to listen to this album.

I got the CD and I think everyone should have this in their car if they love real Hip Hop music.
I listened to this guy man and he gives me the shivers. Last time I felt that was when Jay Z first started. DOPE! is right.
I enjoy T3 as well. I read some body’s review that stated J Dilla new what he was doing when he ask Elzhi to take his place in Slum Village. J.Dilla was sweet with those drums and Elzhi is sweet with his wordplay for real. I bought a stupid ass book from 50 cent. I said that I would never buy a book by another rapper. But if this guy wrote a book I would buy it because I know it would be filled with food for thought and a good read.
I really think this is an inspiring album and it gives me energy to listen to. I have to keep listening to it. I hope this guy is satisfied with himself cause this album is going to be send this to some of my solider friends at war cause I think it will make them feel good. I like how they designed the album it’s really different. I wasn’t expecting a guy reading a book.
Today I’m so use to seeing bling and the same kind of album covers with mean mugs and glorification violence some scantily clad women on covers on and on. I respect this guy that much more cause this album really really good.
