Hip Hop: More than just music

October 21, 2008

As of late, with the whole election coming up and stuff, Hip Hop has been playing a role in urging voters to vote for Obama.

There has never been an incident, that i can recall, where so many artists have stepped out of their boundaries and let their voices be heard in politics. I mean, yeah you got a lot of rappers spitting about the government, and what not, but i mean there is mass numbers of rappers making tracks about Obama and the upcoming election.

Here are a few:
“Ignite the People (Like Obama) by 6th Sensee
“Yes We Can” by Will.i.am
“Black President” by Nas
“Black Republicans” by Nas & Jay-Z
“Politics (Obama is Here)” by Ludacris
“Open Letter to Obama” by Jin
“We Are the Ones” by Will.i.am
“Black Democrats” by Juelz Santana & Lil Wayne
“Imma Vote Obama Way” by Ti$a
“Crank Dat Obama” by Smokin Jo
“Barockstar” by Mims
“Work To Do” by Kidz in the Hall
“Obama Obama” by APT (”A Milli” parody)
“We Need Barack” by DJ Green Lantern & Mavado
“Go Tell Ya Mama Vote For Obama” by J.Xavior
“Letter to Obama” by Joell Ortiz
“I Am Obama” by J Kwest
