Forgotten Legends #2 – Biz Markie

August 11, 2008

Nobody beats the Biz. That is the cold hard reality of life. Whether he is on stage or in the studio, Biz Markie has a way of using humor & his signature vocals to captivate audiences & have them eating out of his hand.

Biz Markie 1st came into the hip-hop scene in 1985 & is STILL an active hip-hop artist.

Biz Markie is one of the few beatboxers that most hip-hop fans can name & one the few hip-hop artists that is a great MC, a great beatboxer, & a great DJ. Biz is a multiple threat on the mic, tables & beatbox. He has a classic album (IMO) “Goin’ Off”. He was an integral part of the “Juice Crew”, arguably the most important hip-hop crew of all time. He’s a revolutionary in integrating comedy in hip-hop. He’s one of the best storytellers in the history of hip-hop. “I Need A Haircut” is the most important album in regards to the legality of sampling in hip-hop. Sounds like a legend to me.
