LL Cool J Exit 13 Review

September 14, 2008

Exit 13 is the thirteenth album released by Def Jam from LL Cool J.

LL Cool J goes down as a hip hop legend no matter what, that being said, this album isn’t close to his best.
He’s just trying to hard to fit in and adapt to todays hip hop. Songs like Speedin Down The Highway and We Rollin are okay but they sound like everything else out right now. I wish Cool would stick with one type of flow. Sometimes he tries to revive the Bigger And Deffer era with “rap ballads” and other times he goes back to his Mama Said Knock You Out flow when he needs to re-establish himself as “hard”.
The truth is LL Cool J needs to make this his last album. He has had a rewarding career and will be remembered forever but for some reason he continues trying to dust off his plaque in the hip hop hall of fame. He hasn’t released a great album since 1993 (Mama Said Knock You Out) and starting in 2000 with G.O.A.T. he has dropped 5 average or below albums. (Including This One)
I almost feel bad for LL Cool J because he is selling himself out, for his own sake I wish he would stop.
