Hey it’s me Travis D, sorry for the lack of updates lately and probably in the future (a couple more days). I am really busy right now and also am working on a new layout and site plan. Expect big changes coming this weekend. In the meantime, I have been going back and forth about the idea of posting full album download links on the site. I have come up with a couple of possible solutions, let me know which one you like the best…

1. Fuck the DMCA + Blogger + The Artists, keep posting DL links.

2. Open another blog which contains download links for all the artists and albums we feature on this site + more. That way you guys could still get your links but the main site would not be in jeopardy of being removed.

3. Stop posting DL links, you can get them elsewhere.

Lupe Fiasco Announces A 3 Disc Set For LupEND

Many of may know that Lupe Fiasco stated that the album after his previous album “The Cool” will be his last and final album. But recently, Lupe Fiasco stated that LupEND will contain a 3 disc set.

As Lupe stated “It ain’t gonna be just one album, it’s gonna be 3 albums” he also stated each disc will have its own name. Somewhat like Nelly’s previous albums, Sweat & Suit.

The 3 discs will be called:

Everywhere
Nowhere
Down Here

Together they form “LupE.N.D”.
LupEND will be released in late 2009. Props to The LupEND Blog.

R.I.P. Jam Master Jay

6 years ago today Jam Master Jay was gunned down in a Queens recording studio. Some say Kenneth McGriff ordered the hit on JMJ because he defied a blacklist of 50 Cent after 50 made a song called”Ghetto Qu’ran” in which the lyrics mention McGriff. This was never proven.

Nevertheless, Jam Master Jay is one of the pioneers of hip hop and one of the greatest DJ’s that ever lived.

May he rest in peace.

Album Sales: Lil Wayne- Tha Carter III

A couple days ago I found a little mini-study that this guy did on Tha Carter III that was pretty interesting, check it out…

I’ll paraphrase it for you, 

The Carter III sold just over 1 million albums in it’s first week. Lets round the exact number down to simply 1 mil so the calculations will be a bit easier. Now, if you do the conversion, one week is 64,800 seconds. If you divide that number by the number of Tha Carter III album sales in that one week (Approximately 1 million), you will find the approximate number of albums sold every second.

The Answer is about 1.7

So that means that in the first week of Lil Wayne’s Tha Carter III being released, an average of almost two albums were sold EVERY SECOND.

Ain’t that a trip…

Caught the BET Hip Hop Awards tonight on tv, heres my recap…

Let me run down the winners for you…

“Track Of The Year”- Lil Wayne “A Milli”

• No surprise on this one, there were so many remixes of this ish I had the beat stuck in my head for weeks.

“Best Hip Hop Collabo”- DJ Khaled- “I’m So Hood”
• This track was straight up dumb and DJ Khaled is the most annoying person I have ever heard.

“Rookie Of The Year”- Shawty Lo

• Are you freakin kidding me?! I can’t even remember the one hit this guy was “famous” for.

“Lyricist Of The Year”- Lil Wayne

• Of course. Lil Wayne stans would have shit themselves if he hadn’t won.

“DJ Of The Year”- DJ Khaled

• Maybe his repetitive yelling of “We Da Best!” eventually made people actually start to believe it…

Release Date For Dr. Dre’s Detox!!!

Finally it is set, check out the release date for Detox after the jump…

Hahahahaha sorry I just had to do it. I don’t have an official release date for Detox and neither does anyone else.

But what I can tell you, and I think I am speaking for the whole hip hop community when I say this, is that Detox better be off the f*cking chain!

Think about it. All this wait and delay just makes me wonder what it is he is working on that is taking so long. It’s not like he is lacking any of the skills, he is one of the greatest producers the world has ever seen. Any rapper would be mentally retarded not to accept an invitation to feature on the album.

He has everything he needs. What is taking so long?!

After close examination, a came up with a couple of possible reasons…

1. He is making this ish perfect. He is following The Chronic and 2001 so people are expecting a classic and that’s what he is gonna give to ’em.

2. We also have to look at the fact that his son died. A tragedy like this will undoubtedly (and should) slow down any production process.

3. Roid Rages. It is pretty unlikely that a 43 year old hip hop producer looks like freakin’ Arnold Schwarzenegger after most likely a huge part of his day is sitting in a studio. Maybe his roid rages are causing a slow in production…
