Sway isn’t exactly underground but he is among a group of good international artists that haven’t hit the mainstream yet. Sway represents the UK but also has origins in Ghana. He is also a producer and founded DCypha recordings.
I must admit that I don’t listen to a lot of international artists let alone British rappers but Sway was my introduction. He can rap reasonably fast while still maintaining flow which is definitely a plus. He also has creative punchlines, good wordplay, and adds humor to his songs. What makes it even better is that he produces most of his songs. The only thing I would say against Sway is that I don’t here much storytelling from him.
His 2005 debut album, This Is My Demo, is one that I personally recommend listening to. It shows his abilities well and the production is great. I would give it an 8/10. Worth listening to.
He also released, The Signature LP, which I didn’t think was as good as his first album but there are some good tracks on it.
